Social Saturday, Class B (for bashful pups) *Fall '24 Registration is closed.
Location: Community Room of the Town Offices at Whitefield, 56 Littleton Rd. Whitefield, NH
Dates: Saturdays, 10:45-11:45 Sept 21 & 28, and Oct 5, 12, 19. (October 26th will be the makeup if class needs to be canceled.)
Class size is limited to only four dogs to ensure safe, closely monitored socialization sessions.
Who qualifies for this class? Instructor permission must be given before enrolling. You may be asked to come in for a free evaluation to ensure your dog is at the right place on the sociability spectrum. The B class is reserved for friendly pups that need to work on confidence (shy yet curious and willing to interact). While they need not be social butterflies (this is for the A class) they must not show fear or aggression-based reactivity, with no history of instigating fights. They should be over 30 pounds, and spayed or neutered unless permission has been granted.
Course Description: This class is designed to help friendly, yet reserved dogs beyond 6 months of age continue to develop essential social skills in a safe and controlled environment.
While there are no guarantees that this group will be able to engage in off-leash play, that is the ultimate goal. We will engage in exercises aimed at teaching appropriate social behaviors and building confidence.
Handlers will learn effective techniques for reading canine body language, reinforcing positive interactions, and addressing any issues that may arise during socialization.
By the end of the class, dogs should exhibit improved social skills, increased comfort in group settings, and a stronger bond with their guardians. Handlers will also learn how to safely introduce dogs to one another when on leash.
While the primary goal is socialization, the curriculum is open, and requests to learn and practice basic skills will be taken.
Don’t forget to bring high value treats for your pup, and a current vaccination record! You will receive both a text message and a welcome email about a week before class begins with all the information needed for you to be prepared.
There are no credits or refunds for missed sessions. An email will be sent that summarizes the skills we covered. If a session is canceled by North Star, a makeup class will be offered.
